I was one of the Sweet volunteers, who participated,
in almost all of Sweet's special projects during our cruise.
Words cannot explain the good deeds we did while on a simple
vacation. It was legendary! It goes down in history, as it was the first lesbian cruise, no wait, it was the first time in the travel industry, that people were allowed the chance to “give back” while they were on vacation. I have not stopped since I returned home.
We are calling this the “Sweet Ripple Effect”, whereby,
many of us who participated during the cruise, are now continuing to give back. In Roatan Honduras, we donated two new computers to a computer lab, for the Partners in Education Roatan project (PIER), at Sandy Bay E-Learning center. We also painted the center. When we found out that it cost $150, per
child, per year to attended the program, we immediately reached in our pockets and donated $650.
I was the Technical person who set up the new computers. I was moved by this little 9 year old boy named Malden, who was standing by my side, willing to help me. Such a sweet and polite boy, who really followed instructions well. It was right then, when I saw how he was responding to what we were doing, that I decided to do more.
I set a goal of raising money for five more computers, to send to Roatan, before Christmas. The response was overwhelming from friends, and co-workers. Sweet, actually included my project as a part of the Sweet Christmas list for this year, which really helped.
We raised money for five and now are going for ten! The people involved in the PIER project are ecstatic. They cannot wait to receive the new computers.
This brings the total to seven computers that were donated as a result of the Sweet cruise. And as I said, we are hoping for more. If you wish to donate, please visit

Now what to do with this heart... There is no question that it needs to go to Roatan with our computers. To the PIER people who are doing the good work on the Island.
However, in the meantime, heart 1551 is taking a quick detour first, as I give it to my Father for Christmas. You see, my Father, just became a cancer survivor. He is healing... He could use this heart as an inspiration. So I am passing this heart to him for his strength, courage, and unwavering love and support. Merry Christmas and feel better soon - Dad!
