Karen and I met at work 14 years ago and immediately I knew there was something special about her. What I didn't know is that she was to be the person who offered me unconditional love for the first time ever. Karen introduced me to my spiritual journey by showing me hers and letting me walk along beside her for a very long time. She introduced me to Siddha Yoga, homeopathy and speaking my truth.
If our journey had ended there she would have already provided me with a lifetime of love and compassion. Karen has stood with me as we learned a new way to meditate, walked with me round and round Concord Mills Mall only to stop for a huge latte and ruin the hard work. . . which was so worth it because I walked for the connection more than the exercise. She has held my hand when we mourned the loss of a friend's 9-year old son, she stood with me when my son was born ill and shown me how to be my own person in a society that expects conformation.
Karen has held my heart with her love when my marriage was going through a tough spot and I thought there was no safe space for the pieces of my heart to fall. She knows my deepest fears, my grandest loves, my foibles and my successes and has stood beside me without judgement. She tolerated my ego even when it meant I was hurting her heart.
But most of all my dear friend, I send you this heart because you willinging light the way making this world a safer more kind and more loving place to be. How do you thank someone who shows you how to love?
Heart is Hot stands for everything I can think of when it comes to reaching out and touching the life of someone else. . . So Karen, I cannot take out my own heart and give it to you, though you know I would. . . But I can give you a token that represents how much I love, admire, honor and adore you.
You model for me balanced living and you have touched me more deeply than our vocabulary allows us to express.
May you look at this heart and remember more completly how profound and bright you are!
Love you,
T
