Hello, my name is Joanne and my friend Heather, who I have known and loved for over half my life, sent me heart 477.
Heather moved to England and came to my school, which is where we first met. At 11yrs old we became life long friends, always staying in touch. Back in those days it was letter writing. Her first letter to me was on the plane going back to the states. I have kept every one. Although the years have come and gone, we have still stayed close, often with long gaps between communications. We are both grown women now, married and each have a family that keep us busy. We still stay in touch, although email has made it so much easier and quicker.
Heather sent me the heart when she sent a gift package from her daughter to my son. I really love the whole idea behind Heart is Hot... a fabulous concept. I recently did the Moon Walk in London. It is a charity marathon walk of 26.2 miles for breakthrough breast cancer. It occurs at night round London England. The dress code is slightly unusual, everyone including men are encouraged to wear decorated bras. Sadly like most people today, I know what breast cancer can do to families. And although it is a serious money raising event, it is completely uplifting and very emotional, with people who have suffered with the cancer and also families walking in memory of lost ones. 17.5 thousand of us braved the cold night air and set out from Hyde park at midnight on the 17th May this year. It was cold and had been raining for days, but it didn't matter. Me and my hot heart 477 made it round in just under 9 hours. That little heart I feel had strength before is totally empowered now. Whoever I pass it onto next I am sure will feel it. I hope you enjoy reading our story.
