I was waiting for some moment of inspiration this month to instigate the theme of this newsletter. So I waited. And waited. Then…a ha! I was changing the water in my bamboo plant vase today (which embarrassingly I had obviously not done in a while). When I lifted the 3 long, gorgeous pieces of curly bamboo out of the vase, I stood there stunned. Now let me add here that though the bamboo is lovely, these 3 pieces had been looking a bit dreary lately, probably to do with the heat. I am actually quite the green thumb despite my lack of attention to the bamboo recently. Luckily it is a hardy plant! But much to my surprise, and in a filmy vase only partially full of water, stood a brand new stalk of bamboo forming, probably already about a half a foot long. It was (and is) headed at this moment to the top of the vase to peek its head out.
Extraordinary. Opportunities for growth happen in the most interesting places and under the most unassuming circumstances…like at the bottom of a dark, less than clean bottom of a large vase. Needless to say, I was inspired and humbled by the intuition of nature. May we always be as courageous as the bamboo and see every moment of our lives as an opportunity to grow with the certainty of the bamboo that it will reach the top of the vase to show itself to the world.
Blessings,

Each month we feature a different HIH member...so we can all get to know each other just a bit better. This month we have chosen Tim from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
SAHARA (S): What are the 3 most important ingredients to making a personal relationship work?
TIM (T): Trust and Forgiveness: Trust should be unconditionally and freely given and not easily lost. I try to remember that I see the world as I am, not as it actually is, and that my versions of the truth contain no more and no less truth, wisdom, value, learning and growth opportunity than others. Authenticity and Courage: I try to un-apologetically be and be faithful to my highest aspirations for myself. I try to do my best to be and live the change I wish to see in the world. Unconditional Love: I would not wish to be judged by my many worst moments and mis-steps so I try not to judge others by theirs. I try not to judge or view anything as winning or losing or right or wrong, but through the prism of what works and does not work. I have lots of room for improvement in all these areas.
(S): Do you have any family traditions that you treasure?
(T): Sunday family brunch, games, being there for each other.
(S): What are you most grateful for?
(T): God's unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness. The opportunity to try to live a life based on a belief of abundance, gratitude and a generosity of spirit, deed and forgiveness. Family, old and new friends.
(S): Do you have any favorite sayings or quotations you have used in life? (I picked a few of Tim's fabulous words to live by).
(T): Do not take anything life has to offer personally or seriously. Accept everyone and everything for what it is and without judgment. Life presents no problems that cannot be solved with red wine, pasta, chocolate and good company. If money is the root of all evil, then what is the root of all money?
(S): What is your definition of success?
(T): Doing my best to be authentic, loyal and faithful to a healthy child within. Be there when others need me. And when they don't, be on others' side, even when they don't feel it. Help others win, even when they don't feel it. Own others' problems, even when they don't feel it. Be straightforward and truthful, and be the person my dog sees.
(S): What does a typical Saturday evening look like in the life of Tim?
(T): Dinner then dinner clean-up: I also consider myself world class at dinner clean-up, loading and unloading the dishwasher Late: Evening Prayer. I must also admit to many significant weakness and shortcomings: I have always really enjoyed television (I am a real CNN junkie), I smoke, I consume way too much chocolate, have not been going to the gym regularly recently and have a lot of rooms to clean up and out.
(S): If you could have one superpower, what would that be?
(T): The superpower to create unconditional love and harmony within the universe, feelings of abundance and gratitude for everyone and everything.
Thank you so much Tim. From your photo, it looks like you have a bit of spiderman in you too!

HOLLA FOR HEARTS HITTING HUIZEN HOLLAND!
Say that 5 times fast! We find it no coincidence that the word “Holla” can be found in “Holland” as we give a shout out to our new friend, Melissa in the Netherlands. Heart 766 has now trekked 5,577.96 miles to spread its love. Melissa, we are ready to watch this heart go another 10,000 miles. No pressure! We love you. Welcome to the family.

SENDING THE TROOPS SOME LOVE
No matter our political views and opinions, we all share in the desire for our troops to be brought home safely. And we are thrilled that HIH has some tiny little part in spreading peace during this tumultuous time in our world. Hats off to Sayeh...who wrote this gorgeous story recently for heart 699.
"This heart was purchased for my boyfriend who at the moment is in the army. I thought the heart would help him a great deal for many reasons, with the first being that he is away from his family, friends, and loving GF. The second being his uncle recently passed away due to cancer, and I know it was very hard for him being away while he was sick.
With a beautiful glass heart, Joshua can carry the love with him every where he goes, and when he meets someone along the way on his journey who will need the heart even more than him, I look forward to following the trail of love and compassion that these beautiful gifts bring."

SAHARA SPEAKS
Sahara inspired a lovely crowd last Saturday, June 28th at The Art of Gratitude Workshop held by Soul Coach Extraordinaire, Carolyn Himes, in Newport Beach, CA.
The day was such a success that Sahara was asked to come back in both July and October to share her story once again.
Here we see Carolyn in her natural habitat. Now that is someone we would call on for soul assistance. She is AMAZING!

For more information about Carolyn’s work and her workshops, visit her website at www.rememberyourwings.com.
To invite Sahara to speak at your next event, contact us at info@heartishot.com for her schedule and availability.
