News

As we leap, bound or tip-toe lightly into Spring (depending on where we live and our weather patterns!), we are no doubt reminded of the deep transformation this season offers. Perhaps for some a renewed sense of being...or simply a breath of fresh air.

We also share in deep gratitude for every waking moment and both the preciousness and fragility of life. Earlier this year, a lovely woman named Heidi shared her heart story about her friend Byron who was in a coma in the hospital. Heidi so lovingly and eloquently expressed her love for her friend and the vulnerability both she and the family faced at the possibility of Byron's death.

Byron did pass a few days after the story went up online. However, the most interesting thing developed from Heidi sharing her heart to the public on the site. I started to hear that people were "rooting" for Byron and his recovery, including people who had no direct contact or connection with Byron. People from other states and those who had simply just seen Heidi's story on the site were commenting. He received prayers and blessings of peace and love from "apparent total strangers".

Though Byron's body transitioned, the spirit of his soul as well as other's souls remained connected. I was humbled as the HEART IS HOT community shared in loving communion of energy and prayer. I truly believe to love one another at this level is our natural, organic state of being. Thank you for showing your true selves to each other.

Happy Spring!

featured hottie

Each month we feature a different HIH member...so we can all get to know each other just a bit better. This month we have chosen Rebecca from Happauge, NY.

SAHARA (S): Who is your role model?

REBECCA (R): Hmmm...I think anyone who has overcome a disability. For example, Marlee Matlin is able to dance on Dancing with the Stars even though she does not have her sense of hearing. That is a true role model to me.

S: What is on the top 3 of your "I WANT/OH YEAH BABY/MUST DO" list?
R: Work with the deaf using my ASL skills. Go to a place I have never been before like London. I hear it's a beautiful place! And...meet Sahara someday!

S: Oh my goodness. Thanks! And what a meeting it will be!

S: What words do you live by?

R: Oh gosh, there are so many words I live by. But there is a quote by the famous Aunt Eller in "Oklahoma" that states, "I don't say I'm no better than anybody else, but I'll be danged if I ain't just as good".

S: What are you grateful for today?

R: For waking up in the morning and my feet touching the floor...and focusing on what I can do (my abilities) rather than the disabilities.

S: What is the latest song you downloaded on your ipod?

R: My Dad recorded an Elvis album at SUN Studios in Memphis, and I believe that is the last thing I downloaded. I wonder what he will think of me telling the world that? Oh well, it's my turn to be in the spotlight!

S: What can the world learn from Rebecca?

R: Each day is a precious gift and should not be taken for granted. Enjoy each day because no one knows when it will be their last. And even though it may take a bit longer to accomplish something, have faith that you can complete the task.

S: What is your favorite word?

R: If I had to choose just one word, it would be LIFE...because like I said, I don't take life for granted.

S: Thank you, Rebecca.

Moxie lady inspires us all

A new non-profit organization located in Vancouver, WA called Moxie Lady recently contacted HEART IS HOT to partner with them. They are raising money (by auctioning HIH hearts) to help a woman in the community pay her hospital bills. We are so honored to be sharing in the journey not only with Moxie Lady, but with Sally Wagner herself. Sally has recently been through so much with the diagnosis of a rare infection that caused her leg to be urgently amputated. Our blessings go out to her.

Visit Moxie Lady for more information on the fundraising efforts and to donate to this lovely cause.

And please share the link with your friends!

Many Paths Indeed!

HEART IS HOT is now selling its hearts in the Many Paths Bookstore in North Hollywood, CA. If you are in the area, stop by and meet owner Mark Jacobs. Delightful man...and what a gorgeous store!

A Ha! Words to live by

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one cannot believe impossible things."

"I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
