"June gloom", I am hearing these days. Well, I don't think so! And here's why. It's simple. It's because of you. Every single one of you who are reading this. You make the world a better place in each moment just by being you. I don't mean to be overly cheesy on you today, but I really mean it from the bottom of my heart. You taking the time to consciously spread love forward through the hearts...through YOUR hearts. And your stories!.... Your "blow me away" stories on the HIH site. Incredible. Your willingness and openness to participate in this movement....and to participate in your lives. I truly am speechless (despite the paragraph below that would prove that wrong). Well, you know what I mean.

Ok, so June gloom refers to the weather patterns this month here on the Southern California coast. But I don't see any gloom going on around here! I see that I am the luckiest business owner in the world...and I owe it all to you.....and well..to my Dad. Oh yeah, and did I mention that I have the greatest Dad in the entire world? Well, if not....I do. So let's praise the Papas this month, alright? I had a little chat with my Dad recently that you can read below.

The only rule I have this month for you is that you enjoy your June. Fully.

Each month we feature a different HIH member...so we can all get to know each other just a bit better. This month we have chosen Tom From Redmond, Wa.

SAHARA (S): What type of trouble did you get into as a child?
TOM (T): Four things: I wandered off a lot--the neighbors had to return me many times! Eventually my mom had to tie me to a tree with a long rope to keep me in the yard. I also fought with my middle sister constantly. We're great friends now.
Once I had a party at home while my parents were on vacation and they came home early and caught me. Great party!... but it, of course, had to break up. Lastly, I shot off high-powered fireworks like M-80's and cherry bombs in the neighborhood. The neighbors were not happy. It was fun, though.

(S): Charming.

(S): When you think about your kids, what makes you the happiest?
(T): I'm so glad that my kids are well educated, successful, and have a great love of life. Our kids care about us and show it in many ways.

(S): Well, then Mark and I are a true reflection of our parents.

(S): What are the most important lessons you have learned in life?
(T): Success comes at a price...hard work will overcome frustrations. I learned that the business world can be cutthroat, but you move forward and learn to deal with it. Work hard, but play hard, and leave beautiful memories.

(S): What is your favorite late night snack?
(T): Cereal, probably 3-4 nights a week.

(S): Oh, that's where that craving comes from!

(S): Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
(T): My dad, my uncle and my wife.

(S): What have they taught you?
(T): My dad taught me how important it is to love your family. He had only an 8th grade education but was smart in so many ways. He was a great handy man. My Uncle Jim taught me that education is important and he always supported me in that area. My wife has a positive attitude and has always supported me whatever I did, wherever we moved, whatever happened in our lives.

(S): What advice do you have for new fathers?
(T): From the beginning, show love and support for your kids. Be there for them, through challenging as well as good times. Let them know you're proud of them.

(S): OK, I know this is the real question you have been waiting for: Who is your favorite sports hero of all time?
(T): My childhood hero is Mickey Mantle because he was a great baseball player and played for the love of the game. I also admire Joe Montana because he never lost his cool under pressure. He also loved his sport.

(S): Thanks, Dad. It's nice to know I will always be Daddy's little girl.

Hey, that's Daryn Kagan!
Sahara had the pleasure of saying a quick hello to Daryn Kagan this last weekend at the highly acclaimed Ladies Who Launch LIVE event in the Southern California area. If you remember, Daryn (a former CNN reporter) interviewed Sahara earlier this year. Click here to see the video interview.

Daryn is on a national tour with Ladies Who Launch and spoke about her inspiring new book documenting stories that show the world what's possible. How much do we love Daryn?! And what is Ladies Who Launch, you ask? LWL is a national organization designed to support women in launching their creative ventures and businesses. Sahara is looking over my shoulder and saying that I should add "that it is the coolest group of women in the entire world!" So, there you have it.

wE ARE LOVIN' HEART 622!

Teri Johnson, a wonderful spiritual coach, HIH user and all around spectacular human being has started a "MEDITATION HEART" in the mediation class she teaches.
So far it has already had 6 journeys, and we understand this is only the beginning with this heart. Hats off to Teri and her entire group for spreading love forward and in and around their group. And interestingly, in each story, there is a common theme that the new recipient of the heart "just happened to be going through something" that day and felt that they could really use the heart in that moment. Then poof! ....they would magically receive it.

SAHARA SPEAKS

Sahara had the opportunity to also speak for a moment at the Ladies Who Launch conference where Daryn Kagan and other beautifully talented speakers inspired hundreds of women. She briefly mentioned the story behind HEART IS HOT and shared her gratitude for everyone in the room and how each person's energy before her was making a difference in that moment, in her life and in the lives of others.
